Where Will You Spend Eternity?

What’s Our Greatest Concern?

The most important question in our life is, “Where will you spend eternity?” In His Word–the Scripture the LORD God tells us where we can spend eternity. Our Heavenly Father, who created man with a spirit–to enable us to relate to Him, tells us that He loves us so much that He made provision for us to spend eternity in His Glorious Presence. We are able to receive the LORD God’s gracious gift of eternal life through faith.

What Was God’s Plan?

In the Scripture we see that the LORD God’s Plan to provide the way for man to spend eternity in Heaven was for Christ (while remaining Divine) to miraculously become a human person who did not have a sin nature–so He could pay the penalty for human sin. The Scripture tells us that payment of the penalty for our sin had to be made–for us to be able to enter God’s Holy Presence. We need to realize that all of us are guilty of sin–disobedience to God’s Word–and need a Savior.
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ
Jesus. (Romans 3:23-24)

To fulfill the LORD God’s Plan for Him to pay the penalty for sin, Jesus the Christ died on the Cross. On the Cross Jesus shed His blood to pay the penalty for sin oncefor all time, so that we would be able to receive forgiveness for our sins.
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. ……… For God so loved the world that He gave His One and Only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.
(Romans 6:23 & John 3:16)

What Jesus did for us spiritually–by dying to pay the penalty for our sin–is like our getting the death penalty, then an innocent person paying the penalty for our crime by dying in our place. All we have to do is accept His gift.

Why Did Christ Need to Come?

It was necessary for Christ to come down from Heaven to be the Way through which we can spend eternity in Heaven because Christ was the only One who, by way of the Holy Spirit, could become a human person and not have a sin nature (not have a human father) –which enabled Him to pay the penalty for human sin. Jesus the Christ provided the only way for us to spend eternity in God’s Presence.
Jesus said, “I have come down from Heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of the Father who sent Me.” ……. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
(John 6:38 & John 14:6)

Where is Jesus Christ Now?

The Scripture tells us that Jesus Christ died for our sins, that He was buried, and that on the third day He rose from the dead–just as He said He would! We see in the Scripture that forty days after His Resurrection Jesus the Christ, in the presence of His disciples, was taken up in a cloud and He returned to Heaven!
Jesus Christ, having offered one sacrifice (Himself) for sins for all time, sat down at the Right Hand of God.
  (Hebrews 10:12)

How Should We Respond?

In His Word the LORD God reveals Himself to us and tells us that He wants to have a loving relationship with us. We should realize that we need to know (read/study) and then obey God’s Word, which is how we show that we relate to our Heavenly Father with love.
Jesus said, “Love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment.” (Matthew 22:37-38)

We should believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. When we put our faith in Jesus Christ, we will receive His righteousness. ……. We should repent (turn from sin and turn to Christ), ask forgiveness for our sin, and accept Jesus the Christ (the Messiah) as our Lord and Savior.
The righteousness of God is through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who believe.
(Romans 3:22)

Jesus said, “Repent, and believe in the Gospel.” …… If we confess our sins, God is faithful and righteous, so that He will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (Mark 1:15b & 1 John 1:9)

The Scripture tells us that the LORD God created man to have an eternal existence. While we are on earth, we make the choice of where we will spend eternity–after death it’s too late to change our destination. We can choose not to believe and not have faith in Jesus Christ, and not to repent and not ask forgiveness for our sin. If we choose to reject the LORD’s provision, through Jesus Christ, for us to spend eternity in Heaven, we have chosen to spend eternity in Hell.
“But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone.” (Revelation 21:8a)

We can choose to accept the LORD’s provision, through Jesus Christ, for us to spend eternity in Heaven. We can choose to believe and have faith in Jesus Christ, to accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, and then obey Jesus’ Teachings of God’s Word. As righteous believers in Christ, we will be able to look forward to spending eternity in Heaven–in the LORD God’s Glorious Presence.
Then I, John, heard a loud voice from Heaven saying, “Behold, the Presence of God is with men, and He will dwell with them. They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them and be their God.” (Revelation 21:3)

The LORD God gave His Word–the Scripture through almost forty different writers, and it was written over a period of 1,500 years; it covers what took place from the beginning–before any writer existed. All of the Scripture, the Old Testament and the New Testament, is coordinated to the exact detail, and it has amazingly been compiled into One Bookthe Holy Bible. The Scripture verses referenced in this website are taken from the New Testament; in these Scriptures we see the LORD God sending the Lord Jesus Christ from Heaven to miraculously become a human person so He could be our Savior. The LORD God’s infinite presence and awesome power are beyond our ability to comprehend!

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness. (2 Timothy 3:16)

Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgements and His ways past finding out! (Romans 11:33)
